PROJECT OVERVIEW
Inspired by the quality of light, as well as the textures and forms of its parkland setting, the new RCH delivers a patient and family-focused healing environment based on the latest evidence and research-based design principles.
The building is north-facing, which makes great use of natural light. Plus, eighty percent of patient rooms have park views.
Additionally, there is now a 2000-space underground car park, 500 bike spaces, shops, cafes and amenities to enjoy.
OUR ROLE
While the structure was designed by Irwin Consult, we carried out the peer review and structural certification.
Peer review challenges included the lateral stability of the building in the final state whilst being subject to rather high differential earth pressures to building sides, as well as analysis and design of the large floor plates.
