The redevelopment of RACV Cape Schanck Resort encompasses the creation of a new 30,000m² building spanning five levels, complete with underground parking, an indoor pool, a day spa, and a gymnasium.
The innovative design features three circular structures enveloped by a gracefully curved facade atop a glass podium. Within these modern confines lie 120 fresh accommodation units, along with amenities such as a restaurant, lounge, café, kids’ playroom, golf pro shop, as well as conference and function rooms.
Surrounding the structure, landscaped areas, expanded pathways, recreational facilities, parking spaces, and a driving range offer ample outdoor space for relaxation and leisure
PSV Consulting Engineers played a pivotal role in the structural review and certification of the RACV Cape Schanck Resort, contributing to its striking architectural form.
The project featured a complex composite curved steel structure with long-span beams, requiring innovative engineering solutions to ensure both strength and aesthetic appeal. PSV’s expertise was critical in resolving the intricate challenges posed by the structure’s unique geometry and detailing.
The façade design, in particular, involved highly complex connections and meticulous detailing to accommodate the curved steel elements, ensuring seamless integration with the architectural vision whilst maintaining structural integrity.
