Built adjacent to the Exhibition Centre, the Convention Centre cost $1 billion and features a 5541-seat Plenary Hall which can be divided into three separate theatres. This is in addition to a grand banquet room, as well as a hotel, office, residential and retail space.
The Convention Centre also underwent a massive expansion in 2016, with construction finishing in 2018. Over the period of its development, the expansion has completely transformed the South Wharf area, adding almost 20,000 square metres of flexible space to the venue.
PSV was commissioned to provide an independent peer review and certification of all the associated structural designs of the buildings over time. This included the Melbourne Convention Centre and involved a thorough assessment of the large cantilevers used in its construction.
