Sample Training Plans

1. Amenity Horticulture Training Package

Primary Skills Victoria, with its constituent sector reference groups under the banner of the Horticulture Standing Committee for arboriculture, floriculture, landscape, nursery, parks and gardens, and turf, have developed sample industry training plans for Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma.
The constituent units for each qualification are provided as well as an approximate number of hours at the bottom of the table for the qualification. It should be noted that each sample training plan for a qualification provides only a guide to the types of units of competency that may be included in a qualification. It is up to reach Registered Training Organisation to determine the units of competency within their qualification utilising the Training Package rules.
The hours for particular units of competency can be extracted from the Primary Industries Curriculum Maintenance Manager's website in the Purchasing/Implementation Guide at http://trainingsupport.ette.vic.gov.au/p_trgpckDetail.cfm?id=21
Primary Skills Victoria's Industry Training Advisory Board (ITAB) national equivalent, The Rural Training Council of Australia, has devised qualifications that provide a mechanism of acquiring national qualifications for Amenity Horticulture under the Australian Qualifications Training Framework (AQTF) in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. In total this comprises thirty four qualifications for Amenity Horticulture, approved by the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) in April 2003.
The list of sample training plans can be downloaded by each level of qualification and sector in the right hand column of the table below.
The full outline of the qualifications below and the Training Package rules accompanying them can be found for Amenity Horticulture on the National Training Information Service (NTIS) website at http://www.ntis.gov.au/cgi-bin/waxhtml/~ntis2/pkg.wxh?page=81&inputRef=202#Qualifications

Training providers for the different qualifications across Australia can be accessed from the NTIS website by clicking on the appropriate left hand column item below.
