The great thing about the primary
industries sector is the range of career options that trainees can undertake. In
Agriculture, Animal Care and Management, Conservation, Amenity Horticulture,
Seafood and Aquaculture, and Conservation and Land Management, 37 sub-industries
are available for trainees to study at the TAFE level. These sub-industries are
as follows.
In 2001-02 in Victoria, over 6,400 trainees were commencing, part of the way
through their training, or completing their training (this figure does not
include FarmBis training which is separate). In total there is in excess of four
million student contact hours per year undertaken by these trainees (a student
contact hour is one hour spent by a student at a TAFE College in the classroom
or practical outdoor training associated with the TAFE College).
Further information can be attained on these sub-industries, courses, and links
to subjects by examining the various web pages on this website under Industry.
 | Note: In the Agricultural Industries
sector in the National Training Package there is training in the sugar and
cotton industries. |
