Overview

Nationally the Animal Technology sector encompasses positions such as laboratory animal carer and laboratory animal researcher

It is estimated that there are approximately 310 people working in the Animal Technology industries in Victoria. The largest employer is The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) which covers three sites at Parkville, Bundoora and Kew. They are followed by CSL, Monash University, and then CSIRO. Hospitals and TAFE Institutes are other main employers of Animal Technologists. The Australia and New Zealand Laboratory Animals Association represents the industry.

According to industry requirements, this stream of the Animal Care and Management Training Package is delivered at Certificate III and Diploma levels.
